The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 has surfaced on GFXBench ahead of its launch. The latest ruggedized tablet from Samsung will take its mid-range in-house Exynos 7870 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz matched with 3 GB of RAM. However, its 8-inch display has a relatively low resolution 1280 x 800 pixels with support for just five simultaneous touch inputs. The rugged tablet is expected to feature 16GB expandable storage. an 8-megapixel camera will be available on the back side, while the front side will include a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera
The device is the first tablet in Samsung’s Android range to be developed specifically for outdoor use and the original device could withstand a drop of up to 1.2 meters. It was also IP67 rated for dust and water resistance enabling it to stay submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. Unfortunately, this could come at the cost of the removable battery, which was a signature feature of the original.
When Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 launches in the coming weeks as expected, it will ship with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.
