Samsung has unveiled the worlds first Universal Flash Storage (UFS) cards.
These UFS cards promises read speeds of up to 530 MB/s and write speeds of up to 170MB/s while being the same size as traditional microSD cards.
Samsung said its UFS cards can read a 5GB, full-HD movie in about 10 seconds, compared to 50 seconds on a typical UHS-1 microSD card with 95MB/s of sequential reading speed.

Available in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage capacities, Samsung’s UFS cards offer performances comparable to solid state drive  albeit at a much smaller size and at a fraction of power consumption.
Samsung aslo said that these new UFS cards are aimed at high-resolution mobile shooting devices, like DSLRs, 3D virtual reality cameras, action cams, and drones.

These new cards no doubt has introduced a paradigm shift in mobile storage solutions. One that i hope will be adapted by OEMs around.

No details of price and launch dates was disclosed but we a re hoping it wont be long – hopefully it would be available in time for Samsung Galaxy Note 7s launch next month.
