Samsung’s new line of external SSDs with up to 2TB of storage are available for sale from today. The Samsung Portable SSD T3, which succeeded last year’s T1, offers up to 2TB of storage for a staggering $850 with sizes ranging down to 250GB for $130. The USB 3.0 drive offers read speeds of up to 450 megabytes per second. The T3 manages to do all this in a very small profile: it’s roughly three inches long, two and a half inches wide, and half an inch thick, and only weighs 1.8 ounces. The device, announced at CES earlier this year, is available now on Amazon.
The Samsung 2TB External SSD is compatible across multiple operating systems, so you can conveniently connect it to Windows, Mac OS, and Android devices*. With the included, USB 3.1 Type-C connection port and USB Type-C to Type A cable, users can conveniently manage and access content.
The shock-resistant T3 has no moving parts, a strong exterior metal body that can withstand up to 1500G of force, the equivalent of a drop of up to 6.5 feet., and together with AES 256-bit hardware encryption, the T3 is prepared to meet the demands that life throws at it.
